Shane Ohlson is a graduate of NSU and holds a degree in Music Business. While at NSU, his musical focus was primarily on classical and jazz piano, jazz composition and arranging, and arts management.
 
Ohlson held the title of NSU Jazz Lab Facilities Supervisor at Notheastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  There Shane not only managed the facility and taught various music courses, but also served as festival coordinator for the Green Country Jazz Festival, Oklahoma's longest running college jazz festival.
 
As jazz pianist, Shane has performed with nationally known jazz artists such as saxophonist Jim Riggs, trumpeter Marvin Stamm, trombonist and composer/arranger Slide Hampton, jazz vocalist Kevin Mahogany, saxophonist Bob Mintzer (from the Yellowjackets), Bobby Watson, drummer Jimmy Cobb (from Miles Davis), drummer and composer/arranger Ed Soph, “The Singing Policeman” Daniel Rodriguez under the direction of jazz saxophonist and composer/conductor Tom Scott. Shane has also had the privilege to receive instruction from national jazz pianists such as the late Frank Mantooth, Mulgrew Miller, and the late James Williams. 
 
In musical theatre, Ohlson has served as orchestral arranger, and performed on synthesizer in Jenks High School's production of “Seussical the Musical," and as pianist in Oklahoma City Theatre Company's production of "Threepenny Opera." Shane also performs synthesizer, piano, Hammond organ, and arranges music for Jenks High School's award-winning show choir The TrojanairesFor NSU, Ohlson has performed on synthesiser for NSU Theatre Company's  production of "Schoolhouse Rock," "Nunsense," and "Clue the Musical" in which he also served as vocal coach and musical director.
 
While at NSU, during the summer months, Shane served the River City Players summer review which is produced by NSU’s The Sequoyah Institute. During that time he served as keyboardist, trombonist, auxiallary percussionist, musical arranger, and assistant musical director.


Shane Ohlson has also served as the coordinator for the Green Country Jazz Festival, held every Spring at Northeastern State University. The Festival is the longest running college jazz festival in Oklahoma and brings in guests and performers from all over the nation. 

Shane has worked as production assistant at Cimarron Multimedia Group, L.L.C. specializing in sound and video production and editing, arranging, composing, and studio musician. 
 
In the recording field, Ohlson has performed on numerous nationally released albums. He has had the priviledge to engineer sessions for The South 40 Band with legendary fiddler and vocalist Randy Crouch.  Shane served as arranger, keyboardist, and assistant engineer on the album Restless Spirit: A Tribute to the Songs of Bob Childers; as co-musical producer, midi arranger, and keyboardist on the Cherokee National Youth Choir album Cherokee Sunday Morning; as assistant engineer on the NSU Jazz Ensemble album Hour of the Pearl with guest artist Scott Wendholt; as co-producer and mixer on the NSU Jazz Ensemble album Appointment in Milano with guest artist Bobby Watson;  co-producer, engineer, mixer, and performer (bonus track) on the NSU Jazz Ensemble Album The Point with Henry Johnson; co-producer, engineer and mixer on the NSU Jazz Ensemble Album Global Citizen with guest artist Robin Eubanks; and co-producer, engineer, and mixer on the NSU Jazz Ensemble Album Portrait featuring Russell Malone.  Most recently, Ohlson co-produced the University of Missouri - Columbia Concert Jazz Ensemble's first album (most likely to be titled VERTIGO).  Look for it on shelves late summer 2010!


In his spare time, he is a composer and arranger on call for clients hailing from all over the US including Oklahoma, extending to New Jersey, and reaching as far as Sylvania, Georgia. On occasion, Shane co-writes and arranges with Christian composer and arranger Brad Henderson of Hendersongs.  Shane is arranger and editor of the Praise Band Series for the online Christian music publishing company PraiseCharts.com. To date, he has been responsible for adding more than 100 titles to the catalog.
 
Shane and his wife Jennifer are members of Faith Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, TX, where they serve weekly.
